WAYS TO DISCOVER A (FRESH MISSION) FOR YOUR LIFE
Picking up from where we left off…..
DETERMINE WHO YOU ARE and who you are becoming.
it is not about WHAT you are going to do or the “TITLE” that you have. - Make it about the WHO you want to become! Describe WHO you are or Becoming without using WHAT terms.
Example; - I am a messenger of the Kingdom. I am analytical, strategic, implementer a multiplier. I am dedicated. -Passionate about what I do. - Intentional. – I am a technology addict and a person who likes to travel a lot and I love adventure. I am a preacher / teacher…. Mentor / coach. I am not good at expressing personal emotions. I am a learner. - I am more of a progressive thinker than a status quo thinker. - I am impatient with myself yet Merciful to others more than to myself. I tend to be a bit socially shy, but I don't shy away from confrontation.
DETERMINE YOUR GIFTS AND STRENGTHS.
God has given you very specific gifts and strengths. Maybe you’re a math whiz or a wise counselor. Maybe you have a mind for electronics or business. Maybe you’re great at organizing people and getting things done. God’s purpose for you almost always involves the things you’re already good at AND enjoy doing.
DETERMINE YOUR PASSIONS.
What is one thing you’re particularly passionate about? Really, this can be anything. Business, art, economics, alleviating poverty, whatever. If money wasn’t an issue, what would you love to do?
Determining your passions often helps you figure out what God has called you to do as a mission. I have heard it said that God works at the intersection of our gifts and our passions.
Where do your gifts meet your passions?
DETERMINE TO BRING OTHERS INTO YOUR LIFE TO MENTOR YOU
Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where there is no guidance, a people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.”
In other words, one of the main ways God will help you find your purpose is through others.
A caution needs to be made here. Your mentors should be people you trust.
Whether this is your pastor, a superior or friends, it needs to be people who have your back and want the best for you/ won’t run out on you or turn their back on you!!.
You want wise mentors to counsel and to help you find your divine mission.
DETERMINE TO TAKE A MEDITATION BREAK; we don’t need a lot of time here but we “could”
Sometimes it can be incredibly helpful to get away from all the hustle and take some unhurried time to think, pray and journal.
You don’t have to spend a week in the woods for this to be effective. - just a few moments every day away from the rush and grind will be hugely rewarding.
During these moments of sanctuary, allow yourself to simply be still. To contemplate. To let yourself dream.
To ask God for direction and listen for His voice. This doesn’t need to be complicated and doesn’t require any elaborate rituals.
Hebrews 11:6 is a reminder that God always rewards those who seek him. He’s not hiding in the dark, trying to keep his will hidden from you. He wants to guide you.
SAY YES TO ODD OPPORTUNITIES
One can never know what connects in us when we just say yes to get involved in an activity or service provider. Just getting involved activates the hidden mission within.
FOLLOW YOUR OWN DREAM INSTEAD OF SOMEONE ELSE’S
We obviously MUST help others achieve their dreams!! But in all we do – we must follow your dreams!!
….Your mother may be sure that you were meant to be a brilliant lawyer, but if you just don’t feel like that, you’ll never be satisfied with that mission. No matter how much money you’re going to earn and how fancy your place of residence. If it’s not your passion, it’s not going to work.
Passion is always a great indicator to find or define your mission
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH MOTIVATED AND SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
Undoubtedly, our environment influences us a lot, especially those people around.
How smart, - motivated and successful are your friends and relatives?
Do you see them as role models?
IF NOT THEN, - Get out there and meet new great people, who will inspire you and share your vision,
EMBRACE EVERY POSSIBILITY YOU MIGHT HAVE
To many are “waiting” for a “SIGN”. Hello – get out there and MAKE YOUR SIGN
Life has a way of throwing us surprises. - So, stop grieving your unfulfilled goals and set new ones.
Do not worry if you get off track. Start right where you are.
If you are not leading the charge yet, then lead your dog!!
Influence from where you are.
Lead from the middle – you will create new opportunities – then embrace them and keep leading (Influencing).
Learn from your mistakes
Stop perceiving your failures as final. It has been proven, we learn more from our mistakes than we do our successes. Enjoy the success – learn from failure. It is a great teacher.
Learn how to let people go
You may think, it has nothing to do with finding your life’s mission. Well, you’re wrong.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is “LET PEOPLE GO if they want to go!!
When you forgive old grudges and get rid of anything that is weighing you down, you realize how much energy you’ve been wasting.
Most of the people in our lives – as we move forward in our mission – have a time-limit to be in our lives. That is not a bad thing!
When we organically move towards our mission, we find that there are other people who are like-minded and we join to them to grow with them. Learning to let someone go that has chosen a different path to their mission will allow you to now mentor someone else.
