He Is Bigger Than A Book – Jessica and God

He Is Bigger Than A Book – Jessica and God

It’s been a dream

And overly interpreted.

God is bigger than a book.

“But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.”

2 Corinthians 11:3

As your heart changes to meet your mind

It begins to make a lot more sense,

And not in the ways that they tell you it will.

God does not mind being questioned,

God wants us to seek to understand.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Proverbs 1:7

He has nothing to prove.

Your belief (or unbelief) will not change anything,

So you need not make deals with Him.

Access to Him is free,

But His blessings are activated by a pure heart

And clear mind.

He is not a genie or magician, and will not perform upon command.

He is not voice activated,

Nor does He need to be invited in.

“Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.”

Jeremiah 33:6

His love is patiently waiting for you to shed all of the hurt that has been weighing you down.

He is waiting for you to stop looking outside of yourself for the solution so He can show you the power you have available only through Him.

He’s not any further away when you are angry with Him as He is when you are filled with joy.

He loves you regardless of your emotional state.

“And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Luke 23:24

He hears your evil thoughts as you think them,

And He gives you grace because He understands why you hurt.

He knows the ways that this world has manipulated and abused you, every piece of you,

And He wants to help you unbreak.

He wants to unlock His door for you,

But He won’t until your heart is like new again.

“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!”

2 Corinthians 13:5

The power He wants to give you is only safe once your mind is clear,

And you are able to lead with His thoughts before your own.

He wants to speak directly to you,

But you will need to turn everything else off to hear Him.

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Jeremiah 33:3

He’s been waiting for you,

And will be ready to show you His power the moment you are ready to Love others like He loves you.

He wants to show you how to make everything better.

You just need to know which voice is yours,

Which is theirs

And which is His.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

-Romans 12:2

Halloween VS God

Halloween VS God

Is Halloween the devils day

or is it actually more about God than we think? (Depends on your Google search…)

Can a man-made event hold a candle to The Power of God?

Could my child’s participation in Halloween cause them to mess up God’s plan?

If we trick or treat, does God think we don’t love Him?

Will my family be cursed if we dress up in costumes?

Will we go to hell for all of these things?

This holiday seems to spark controversy and division between believers and Followers of Christ,

Which I do not believe is what God would want.

So, for other’s who, like myself, have struggled with this day, I’ll share my thoughts:

Halloween is just a word,

Unless you give it power to

become more.

I love The Lord with all my heart, and on October 31st, 2022 we put on costumes alongside many others who also follow Jesus.

For weeks prior to this day my 6 and 7 year old  daughters and I ĺhad open dialogue about Halloween.

We had been discussing thing like:

*How God probably feels about different types of costumes.

*Different theories that some Christians have about Halloween.

*The fact that God created this day and we get to let Him use us, even in the chaos the devil has created.

*And ways that the enemy may try to use this day against us.

As a parent, I do NOT own my children.

They are not my property.

God only blesses us with His children to Steward.

My job as a parent,

is to guide and lead them.

To help them see how beautifully God has designed them to be.

And to teach my daughters how to live a life that brings others to Christ.

So after many questions and interesting conversations, and resulting from their own critical thinking, my 6 and 7 year old concluded that God would not want them to dress in anything evil the Devil might like.

So I did not attempt to guide them away from getting dressed up in costumes of their choosing.

I used to call October 31st: Halloween…

Until this year.

Since I discovered and developed my relationship with Jesus my thinking has shifted, as well as who I surround myself with. I still love those who I no longer see, but some people need to be loved from afar.

I’ve learned to be discerning in who I allow to have influence in our lives, and that list evolves as my relationship in Christ grows.

This year I was made aware that I might need to work on my discernment a bit more…

To my sister’s and brother’s who publicly shamed parents for participating in community gatherings and activities such as “trick or treating” on October 31st,

You ALMOST got me.

I had begun to question my spirit,

Confusion and overthinking started spinning, and all of a sudden…

Things that didn’t feel bad…started to morph into evil.

I began to wonder if I would cause my family harm for being joyful on this day.

Before my mind got ahead of my spirit,

I went to God with my worries.

I asked my Father for guidance before your seeds of doubt were able to take sprout.

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Philippians 4:6-7

Our intentions show our heart,

Not what others say or believe.

And more importantly God can use everything for Good if you are serving Him.

Judgment is not in our job description.

In fact it pushes nonbelievers FARTHER AWAY from God.

Making people feel shame for participating in events that they have joyful childhood memories of is not what God wants from us.

Attempting to convince people that they’ll go to hell for allowing their children to go trick or treating, when it’s something that they see no evil in, is not going to make them feel the Love of Christ.

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:35

He has directed us to Love each other, and believers are knowingly sinning when we act without love.

We should be the stepping stones that lead God’s children back to Him,

Not pushing them further into the dark with man made confusion and chaos.

“Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.”

James 4:11

We should be meeting others where they are, rather than telling them where they should be.

God will lovingly correct our sisters and brothers when they find Him.

We just need to get out of the way, and let God do what He does best: Heal.

“God alone is the source of spiritual eyes and undivided hearts. Only He can make blind eyes see, deaf ears hear, dead taste buds hunger, and hardened hearts soft.”

See Ezekiel 11:19 and 36:26.)

We are all blind until God has had time to undo the programming, traumas and triggers that this world has embedded in them.

Grace is what we can lovingly offer during healing.

To those of you who feel guilt from the judgements of others:

Let it go,

Give it to God

And feel His peace.

This year I went out on the evening of October 31st with two little girls who were dressed up as a Blue Dog and a Beautiful Princess.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude as I watched my introverted daughter bursting out of her insecurities.

My extroverted daughter was in her element and the beauty she felt in herself radiated for miles.

I got to see the joy in their eyes as they ran around the neighborhood collecting candy. And as I watched my babies spread their love and light to others,

I found peace.

I stopped doubting my decision to let them participate in God’s day,

October 31st, 2022.

And lastly

to my brother’s and sister’s who struggle to lead without Grace:

Give God His job back:

Stop judging,

And start loving.

There is nothing Our God can’t handle.

Triggers & Trauma

“The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth,

and even for evermore. -Psalm 121:7-8 KJV

We are in a battle for our souls, Now More Than Ever.

God has protected our souls

But in nearly the same breath…

The enemy is constantly poking holes.

These holes result in the splitting off of our souls,

And are known as Soul Fragments,

Or Pieces of us.

These new parts of us are actually Separate Entities

who are ruled and controlled

by the very same evil things that broke them.

My husband was diagnosed with Multiple Personalities

because of the severity of his childhood trauma.

Triggering events, words, sounds, people and memories

will cause Joshua to react from a place of pain, hurt, anger and fear…

Joshua’s soul fragments will react for him,

To protect him from pain,

Because that is why they came to be.

His fragmented parts believe that it’s their job to act accordingly in familiar situations,

based on the emotions and memories that each fragment endured,

in order to protect his main soul.

I get to love Joshua differently than I love others,

because I understand him differently.

When I can see that his broken parts are reacting,

I know not to react.

I get to love him through his triggered responses

So that his pieces can feel the love needed to heal the things that they’ve endured.

One day Joshua will be whole again.

One day he will return to God’s original design.

Joshua has been broken,

but so am I,

and so are you.

The enemy is using us against each other in a cycle of traumas and triggers.

What if we could see what a mess we actually are?

What if everyone else could see that they are broken too?

It would be hard to stay mad at each other

if we could see our truth.

If we could see

that our souls don’t want to hurt each other.

With love,

Jessica Linn
